Ross San Miguel Fly Reel

Ross has been making some of the best fly reels on the market for decades, and their new San Miguel Reel pays tribute to a heritage design that they haven't had on the market for over twenty years. The all-new San Miguel picks up where the original left off and features the classic "flower petal" porting with the solid-backed frame, as well as a reliably sealed drag and ultra-smooth free spool. Crafted with more modern materials and machining, this updated version of the San Miguel sports a classy micarta handle, which is a material commonly used in high-end custom knives that improves grip when wet--think of it as the solution to winter days, cold hands, and a tough fish pulling drag. Ross makes their San Miguel Reel in Montrose, Colorado, to accommodate rod weights ranging from 3 through 6, so whether you're looking for a small-stream beauty or need a reel that stands up to long floats and large foam hoppers, the San Miguel has you covered.


Design

Large Arbor w/ Solid-Backed Frame -  The San Miguel Reel sports a classic design with modern performance and materials. Ross maintained the original look of their flower-petal porting with a solid-backed frame. This choice makes the reel perfectly balanced for a range of rods without being too heavy, and its large arbor design ensures that you always have more backing space than you need. A polished high-gloss black finish ties the look of this reel together while also aiding in durability, making the San Miguel perfectly suited for long days on the water for years to come.

 

Finish 

Polished High-Gloss Finish -  Ross' Polished High-Gloss Finish was a tenant of the original San Miguel design. This finish prevents corrosion, adds durability, and just looks downright good. The San Miguel Reel is one of those things that perfectly balances aesthetic and performance.

 

Materials

The San Miguel features a high-quality machined aluminum construction that keeps things lightweight, durable, and resistant to corrosion and wear and tear. This high-grade option complements the drag's carbon/stainless steel stack-up to create a reel that's going to last for many seasons to come and look darn good every time you're on the water.

 

Drag

Precision Sealed -  While Ross made the San Miguel more for freshwater applications like trout crushing terrestrials or slow-drifts with a midge, the reel does have a precision-sealed drag that keeps water and other adulterants out for the lifetime of the reel. This sealed drag is butter smooth and has all of the strength that you need to stop strong fish, while its ergonomic drag knob is easy to work with in the heat of the battle and adds a sharp touch to the reel's aesthetic.

Drag Materials -  The San Miguel's sealed drag is made from carbon/stainless steel with a stack-up design. This drag has all of the power you need while maintaining a smooth feel.

 

Arbor Size

Large Arbor -  A choice that balances the reel perfectly, stores enough backing, and makes reeling your line in nice and fast, Ross uses a large arbor on their San Miguel Reel. This modern choice works well with the reel's timeless look to bring performance that stands the test of time.

 

Warranty

Ross Warranty -  Ross Reels offers a limited lifetime warranty for their San Miguel fly reel. This warranty covers any defects in materials or workmanship for the original owner, provided the reel was purchased through an authorized dealer. This warranty is non-transferable and does not cover issues arising from normal wear and tear, misuse, negligence, or accidental damage. To initiate a warranty claim with Ross, you must complete a Product Service Form and send it along with your reel to Ross Reels' factory in Montrose, Colorado. A nominal service fee is required, which includes thorough inspection, cleaning, necessary repairs or replacements, and return ground shipping within the contiguous United States. For returns to Alaska, Hawaii, or Canada, an additional $24.95 fee applies. Ross services and returns most reels within four weeks of receiving it; however, processing times may vary depending on the complexity of the repair, and for reels that are no longer in production, Ross reserves the right to replace with a newer model.
