Rio Mainstream Intermediate Fly Line

A versatile fly line that bridges affordability with performance, Rio’s Mainstream Intermediate Line is ready for anything from stripping streamers for hungry trout at your favorite pond or working the middle water column in a fast river full of smalljaws. Combining a clear construction with a slightly heavier grain weight and shorter head, the Mainstream Intermediate loads rods effectively while providing just enough finesse to hook tough fish in clear water. Made in line weights 4 through 8 with a 1.5-2 ips sink rate and powerful taper, the Mainstream Intermediate helps you get below the surface while accommodating a wide range of fly weights and styles.

Features

Uses

Poppers, Nymphs, and Streamers - Whether you’re crawling a Hare’s Ear along the bottom of a slow-moving river or stripping streamers across a stocked trout pond, this line has you covered anytime you need to break through the water’s surface. With its versatile taper, you can easily turn over heavy streamers or softly land a nymph in front of a cruising fish in crystal-clear water.

Temp

Cold to Warm - Rio sets their Mainstream Intermediate series up to cover a range of cold to warm water temperatures. This allows you to fish any water that a trout might live in, and should you want to take it to your favorite warmwater location to target bass, it will remain nice and supple without softening up.

Taper/Weight

More Mass Towards the Front of the Taper - Rio concentrates the mass towards the front of the line’s taper with their Mainstream Intermediate Fly Line. This allows you to load fast-action rods and present larger flies with ease, and while this is a powerful taper, it isn’t as compact as others on the market, allowing you to drop your fly just a bit softer. Depending on the line weight, the Mainstream Intermediate’s head ranges in length from 37’ to 41’.
