Hold the call away from your body; cup it between your index finger and thumb.
Hold the striker like a pencil at a 70-degree angle to call; rest your other fingers solidly against the call.
Apply light pressure from the striker when calling.

Purr: Slowly slide striker in a straight, 1in line across surface. Hold striker higher for more consistent sound. Use scouring pad to create additional friction as needed.
Yelp: Move striker in a short oval or circular motion in ½in lines, producing a two-tone yelp, 5 to 7 times in each sequence.
