Lightweight, durable, easy to tie in, and ultra-realistic, Hareline’s Posted Dome Eyes bring a lifelike set of eyes to any fly you tie them into. A tough plastic construction meets a ribbed post that can be easily tied into any streamer or popper head to add a lifelike set of eyes. Made in a variety of sizes with different color irises, these eyes have a natural look that’s sure to increase the success of any fly you’re tying. From frog imitations to take into the weeds to massive articulated musky flies, these eyes are versatile enough for every fresh or saltwater predator out there.
Uses
Hareline’s Posted Dome Eyes can be used anytime you want to add a lightweight and realistic pair of eyes to your flies. Simply tie them in, add some glue, and you’re good to go. Another option, figured out by Gunnar Brammer, is to stick each eye into a piece of HMH’s Poly Tubes and tie them in for added convenience and durability.
Comparisons
Eyes are a common material when tying streamers and poppers, but the problem is that they are often made of heavy metals like brass, tungsten, and lead, or they require glue. Since Hareline’s Posted Dome Eyes are lightweight and can be tied in, there isn’t a closely similar option out there. However, if you’re looking to get your fly down and want a similar look, then Hareline’s Double Pupil Eyes are a great choice. These eyes also have a two-toned iris and pupil, but they’re made of lead instead of lightweight plastic, making them a superior choice whenever you want your fly to drop quickly or have a jigging action.
There are three sizes available: 1/4" (6mm), 5/6" (7.5mm), and 3/8" (9mm).
Each pack of Posted Dome eyes contains 24 eyes.
